Matured in hand-selected American ex-bourbon and ex-fino sherry fine oak casks, quietly breathing in the fresh sea air.  This non chill filtered 21 year old was awarded "World Whisky of the Year" by Jim Murray in his Whisky Bible 2012.

  • Nose
Flowery, fruity and much more mature than the 17er. But I'm a little surprised, because the nose is very restrained. There are vanilla cookies and dark sweetness. Refreshingly malty. The delicate smoke combines leather with hay. In addition, several nouns of fruitiness. Floral and fresh with notes of green tea. And during my walk by the sea I peel an orange.
  • Taste
Full, sweet, salty and much more balanced than the nose. Creamy and oily mouthfeel. The light fruit basket is garnished with delicate flower blossoms. Is there rose water? Then there are bitter oranges and now a little umami mouthfeel with a lot of body and depth. Less fruit, but grassy and malty. Soft spices with white pepper and waxed wood. The salty and bitter fruity border now on the reasonable work. Very cool, now it's my job. Because these 2cl are not enough for that. Vanilla and sweet caramel are added. I am sure that few people want to understand this whisky because it is far too lengthy and complex. I like that. Will definitely get more samples. Am thrilled. Exactly mine. Wow.
  • Finish
Medium to rather long. Bittersweet he hides the smoke. The wood looks dominant towards polished oak. What remains is a "pleasant" mixture of grassy fruitiness with dominating bitter oranges. The bitter and salty fruit is left over and has a strong effect. A very special smoke rises into the nose from the empty glass. I like it a lot. Great.
